Science in Society symposium: how to keep frontier research on the agenda?


Radboud University welcomes the president of the ERC, Maria Leptin for the Science in Society Symposium on July 7th in the Trigon building, Nijmegen. This unique event brings together scientists, policymakers, and societal stakeholders. It aims to foster an in-depth discussion on the position, value, and future of fundamental (neuro)scientific research in Europe and the Netherlands.


The symposium will feature ERC laureates in the spotlight, showcasing curiosity-driven research, followed by a panel discussion on how to keep frontier research on the agenda amid growing policy pressures on sovereignty and competitiveness and societal challenges we are facing.

  • 14:45 | ERC laureates in the Spotlight (short presentations on current neuroscience projects from computer to clinic, funded by ERC)

  • 15:30 | Discussion: The Untapped Potential of Neuroscience for Society
